Tim Tomkinson is a multi-disciplinary image maker specializing in illustration and branding. After growing up in the relentless heat of Florida, Tim was uprooted to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to attend high school where he thrived in the newfound experience of actual seasons. Four!? But the call of a big city to study art was too heavy to keep him for long, so he made the auspicious jump to Parsons in New York City in 1999.
Tim stayed in New York for over a decade while he established his illustration and graphic design career. In between editorial and advertising assignments for illustration clients—and the occasional gallery show—he would freelance as an Art Director at various ad agencies around the city.
Tim had the good fortune of meeting his girlfriend and future wife, Kate, at Parsons. They married in 2004, and 6 years later decided to leave the city behind and head back to Jackson Hole. The return to nature and an outdoor lifestyle was both inspiring and cathartic. So much so that he and Kate were expecting their first child within a month of moving, and now have 2 amazing little boys.
When Tim isn’t out in the mountains snowboarding, skiing, or mountain biking, he works on projects for clients such as Nike, Old Spice, Discovery Channel, Harley Davidson, The New Yorker, GQ, Outside Magazine, Rolling Stone, Wired, and many others. His illustrations and designs can be found in magazines, billboards, tv spots, t-shirts, menus, books, snowboards and packaging.
